About the X-Generals X-Generals was formed in October 2003 as a continuation of the former General Bank Dragon Boat Team. After General Bank was absorbed in a corporate merger, members of the original team could not let go of the strong ties, friendships and sense of unity they had developed, and thus decided to continue paddling together as the "X-Generals" (ex-Generals). Since its inception, our team has always been about challenging ourselves to be better, being competitive without losing sight of how to have fun, as well as introducing others to the sport of Dragon Boating. With the addition of relatives and friends, our team has now grown into a unique, diverse crew made up of bankers, TV producers, business people, engineers, teachers and more. With each new member and each year of experience, X-Generals hopes to grow stronger and excel further as a team. In recent years, we've experienced many breakthroughs in competition, winning over half a dozen medals from the Long Beach International Races, including Gold in 2006.
This past season was an interesting one for our team, to say the least. And now that the race season is over, we finally have an opportunity to get together and review our team's performance, in all facets. Along with recommendations on what we can do to improve, we'll also be discussing the 2012 season race schedule, team organization and other topics. All of this, along with plenty of food and fun will take place at our annual year-end wrap up and party. We'll tentatively begin the new season around mid to late January - perfect timing for working off all those extra pounds we'll all surely gain over the holidays. Depending on the weather, we may schedule a few sessions at the El Monte training center to start. 2011 - it was fun, and exciting, and inspirational, and emotional. It was a wonderful ride - every stroke, reach, twist, kick, and beat of the drum. A year of old bonds and new friendships; everything that makes us a team. Now let's set our sights on new, different and higher goals for 2012.
